Juvenile hormone (JH) mimics work by imitating the natural growth hormones produced by insects. By doing so, the insect will go through additional larval stages but will never molt into the pupal stage or turn into an adult.
NyGuard® IGR and NyGuard® EZ1 IGR use the same active ingredient, have the same mode of action and can be used for the same pests and use sites. However, NyGuard® EZ1 IGR is a different diluted formula for 1 ounce single dose easy mixing.
Yes, NyGuard® IGR can be used in conjunction with an adulticide insecticide as directed on the label. Always read and follow the label instructions.
NyGuard® is a broad spectrum insect growth regulator (IGR) that is effective against many insects in animal production. Examples include flies, mosquitoes, litter beetles, fleas, cockroaches, stored product pests and many more.
NyGuard® IGR is a juvenile hormone mimic. NyGuard® works to keep insects in the immature stage where they often lack an exoskeleton, or a protective outer layer, which makes them easier to kill before they reach adulthood.
As an insect growth regulator, NyGuard® will reduce the likelihood of insecticide resistance by introducing a new mode of action to the IPM program. Improved insect control can be achieved by combining the use of NyGuard® with an adulticide.
Adulticides are insecticides that target adult insects, while IGRs target immature insects. By combining an adulticide and an IGR, both short-term control and long-term control can be ensured.
Reapply every 30 days or when target insect populations return to economic threshold levels.
